Results

At G Ratings, we conducted a statewide survey to measure electoral preferences and the political climate in Pennsylvania ahead of the November 2026 gubernatorial election.

The study found Josh Shapiro with 52.6% support in the gubernatorial matchup included in the survey, while Stacy Garrity registered 31.2%. Another 16.2% of respondents selected another option or none.

Pennsylvania’s 2026 general election is scheduled for November 3, when voters will elect a governor and lieutenant governor, along with other federal and state offices.

G Ratings presents Pennsylvania gubernatorial voting preferences

At G Ratings, we surveyed Pennsylvania adults who reported being registered to vote and intending to participate in the upcoming election.

When respondents were asked who they would vote for if the gubernatorial election were held at the time of the survey, the results were:

  1. Josh Shapiro: 52.6%
  2. Stacy Garrity: 31.2%
  3. Other/None: 16.2%

The results represent voter preferences during the September 2026 fieldwork period and should be interpreted as a snapshot of opinion at that specific moment rather than as a prediction of the final election result.

Democrats account for 45.5% of respondents

At G Ratings, we also asked participants about their political affiliation to provide additional context for the electoral environment measured by the study.

The distribution was:

  1. Democratic: 45.5%
  2. Republican: 33.1%
  3. Independent/Other: 21.4%

These figures describe the political affiliation reported by respondents in the survey sample.

Economy is the most frequently cited issue in Pennsylvania survey

Beyond candidate preferences, we asked respondents to identify what they considered the most important issue facing Pennsylvania.

The economy, including jobs, inflation and taxes, received the highest percentage at 28.8%.

The complete results were:

  1. Economy — jobs, inflation and taxes: 28.8%
  2. State of democracy: 18.7%
  3. Immigration: 15.5%
  4. Crime: 9.3%
  5. Abortion access: 8.8%
  6. Something else: 8.5%
  7. Healthcare: 4.9%
  8. Foreign policy: 3.4%
  9. Education: 2.1%

The findings show that economic concerns accounted for the largest share of responses, followed by the state of democracy and immigration.

Who participated in the G Ratings survey?

The demographic profile presented in the study shows that 48.9% of respondents were women, 44.1% were men and 7.0% selected another gender category.

By age, participants were distributed as follows:

  1. Ages 18–29: 10.8%
  2. Ages 30–39: 16.7%
  3. Ages 40–49: 23.5%
  4. Ages 50–59: 17.6%
  5. Ages 60–69: 20.8%
  6. Age 70 or older: 10.6%

The survey also included demographic information on ethnicity as part of the sample profile.

G Ratings surveyed 800 Pennsylvania voters

At G Ratings, we conducted fieldwork between September 15 and September 20, 2026.

The study included 800 completed questionnaires from Pennsylvania adults age 18 and older who declared that they met the eligibility criteria to participate in U.S. electoral processes. Participants also confirmed that they were registered to vote and intended to participate in the upcoming election.

The survey used a non-probability design balanced according to demographic and geographic variables, including gender, age group, region, education level and ethnicity.

Data collection was conducted through self-administered digital questionnaires available on mobile devices and computers. The survey was administered in English.

The study used Odysseus, a technological platform developed by G Ratings by GobernArte SC, which incorporates algorithmic models designed to maintain distribution consistent with reference population parameters.

For a sample of 800 questionnaires, the study reports a theoretical margin of error between ±3.5% and ±5% under a 95% confidence level and simple random sampling assumptions. Because the study used a non-probability design, this margin should be interpreted as an approximate statistical reference rather than an exact estimate of total study error.

The results presented by G Ratings provide a snapshot of Pennsylvania voter opinion during the September 2026 fieldwork period. Electoral preferences and issue priorities may change as Election Day approaches and voters receive new political, economic and campaign information.
